Surveillance Footage Requests

As per the Brantford Public Library’s Video Surveillance Policy, and in accordance with section 32(g) of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act:

The Library will disclose video surveillance recordings to law enforcement agencies and/or security personnel to support law enforcement efforts.  If access to a video surveillance record is required for the purpose of a law enforcement investigation, the requesting officer must complete the Library's Law Enforcement Disclosure form and forward this form to the CEO/Chief Librarian or designate. The CEO/Chief Librarian, or designate, will provide the recording for the specified date and time of the incident as requested by the law enforcement officer.

Unless archived, video records are only retained for a period of 30 days.

Library staff will reply to the requester, using the contact information provided above, to confirm whether the requested record(s)/information are available and to arrange for viewing or disclosure, as appropriate.

By submitting this form, the representative of the law enforcement agency certifies that the record(s)/information requested are required by the named law enforcement agency to aid in an investigation undertaken with a view to a law enforcement proceeding or from which a law enforcement proceeding is likely to result.
